➡ 1. Self-Awareness
Understand your own needs, values, and limits. This is the foundation for establishing healthy boundaries.
➡ 2. Clarity of Boundaries
Clearly define what your personal boundaries are in various areas such as emotional, physical, digital space, financial, time commitment to the relationship and time for self care, etc. .
➡ 3. Assertive Communication
This needs to be proceeded with caution... If you're already experiencing abuse in a relationship then setting personal boundaries may be a trigger for escalating abuse. If, in a new relationship ... Communicate your boundaries confidently and firmly without fear of retaliation or feeling guilty. Do what's best for you and no one else.
➡ 4. Consistency
Consistently maintain your boundaries to reinforce their importance and validity.
➡ 5. Violations
Be vigilant about recognizing when your boundaries are crossed and address when a line has been crossed right away.
➡ 6. Others’ Boundaries
Show respect for others' boundaries to encourage mutual respect and understanding.
➡ 7. Flexibility
Be adaptable in adjusting your boundaries if needed, especially when circumstances change. DON"T be pressured or coerced into changing your boundaries... if it doesn't feel right then don't do it!
➡ 8. Confidence in Saying No
Build your inner confidence to say "no" without needing to justify your decision.
➡ 9. Self-Care
Prioritize self-care to reinforce the importance of your personal needs and boundaries.
➡ 10. Support
Have a supportive network to lean on for positive validation when enforcing your boundaries or when they are challenged by someone.
Which of these aspects do you find most empowering, or is there a particular area you’d like to explore further?
